Data analysis plays a central role in the modern information society. Organisations in the public and private sector are collecting vast data sets, and public-sector data is increasingly being made open. However, if full use is to be made of this data, it must first be analysed. The programme of Computational Big Data Analytics teaches students how to understand data analysis and master the necessary skills including data cleansing, integration, modelling and prediction, interactive exploration of data and models, and presenting results to decision-makers with descriptive summaries and visualisations.
Career or after graduation opportunities
As an analyst, graduates can be employed by analysis firms, companies in sectors such as insurance, banking, public administration or healthcare, and government agencies, organisations, and research institutes in these sectors.
